We Provide Various Metrology Services

We are the authorised service provider for Bird Technologies (Pty) Ltd and Xicom Technology (Pty) Ltd and the official distributor of Signal Hound (Pty) Ltd and Saluki Technologies (Pty) Ltd. As official reseller for Bird®, Dranetz®, Fluke®, GW-Instek, Huntron, Keithley, MajorTech, Pico® and Tektronix® we also offer tremendous support in the calibration and repair of these brands. Our team received SANAS accreditation in 1998 in previous operations and formed Precision Measurements in 2015, continuing the high quality of service. Our laboratory and workshop personnel have over 200 years combined experience in metrology and repair. We pride ourselves on our prompt turnaround times of 48 to 72 hours, offered at a fair and competitive price.

ON-SITE (CUSTOMER PREMISES) CALIBRATION FACILITIES

Most of our calibration capabilities are offered as an “on-site” solution to the customer. This consists of a qualified metrologist performing calibration at the customers’ premises, significantly reducing turn-around times and risk of loss
or damage to equipment.

SERVICE AND REPAIR

We offer service and repair down to component level (Through-hole & SMD) on all our calibration principles and custom equipment with a well-established network for sourcing replacement boards, parts and components.

COLLECTION & DELIVERY

We offer free collection from and delivery to customer premises depending on customer location and contract value.

Specifics On Our SANAS Accredited Laboratories:

All Calibrations performed in our SANAS accredited calibration laboratories conform to SANS-9001 and IEC/ISO-17025 requirements. Our standards are traceable to national standards as maintained by NMISA (National Metrology Institute of South Africa) Our laboratories have capabilities to perform electrical calibrations in the frequency range of 1 mHz to 40 GHz, over a voltage span from 1 µV to 1kV, expanded to 80 kV.

SANAS ACCREDITATION 750 FOR RADIO FREQUENCY METROLOGY

Calibration in this discipline is achieved via a number of artefact standards which are all traceable to the National Measuring Standards. Laboratory standards such as reference power heads, reference power sources and standard step attenuators all provide traceability for test and measurement items calibrated.

SANAS ACCREDITATION 550 FOR TIME AND FREQUENCY METROLOGY

This is achieved via a GPS-disciplined oscillator and data supplied in the Standard Time and Frequency Bulletin from NMISA. With this known reference, frequency traceability can be offered with absolute confidence.

SANAS ACCREDITATION 150 FOR DC LOW FREQUENCY METROLOGY

Accreditation in this area is achieved via a number of artefact standards which are all traceable to International Standards. Laboratory standards such as DC reference standards, resistance standards and high accuracy multifunction AC and DC standards all provide traceability for test tools and equipment calibration.

Specifics On Our Traceable Calibration Laboratories:

Traceability in these disciplines are achieved via a number of standards which are all traceable to National Measuring Standards. Calibrations are all performed with the exact same criteria and standard as our SANAS calibrations. All Calibrations performed in our Traceable calibration laboratories conform to SANS-9001 requirements. All standards used in these laboratories are traceable to international standards via national standards as maintained by NMISA (the National Metrology Institute of South Africa).

LABORATORY FOR TEMPERATURE METROLOGY

Laboratory standards such as digital thermometers with RTD probes and thermocouples provide traceability for calibration of items in the temperature range from -80 ⁰C to 600 ⁰C.

LABORATORY FOR RELATIVE HUMIDITY METROLOGY

Relative humidity calibrations are performed on a wide range of instruments with traceability to an International IEC/ISO 17025 accredited Laboratory. Our capability stretches from 0.5 %rh to 95 %rh.

LABORATORY FOR TORQUE METROLOGY

Laboratory standards such as torque transducers and specialized gearboxes offers the ability to generate and measure torque in the range of 0.5 to 600 Nm.

LABORATORY FOR MASS METROLOGY.

Traceability is achieved through sets of high quality calibrated mass pieces in the range of 10 mg to 60 kg.

LABORATORY FOR PRESSURE METROLOGY.

Traceability is achieved by means of Laboratory standards such as a dead weight tester, barometric standard with 0.008% accuracy and standard gauges with 0.025% accuracy. Our capability range from 10 kPA to 60 MPA.

AVIATION

Our Avionic metrology and repair service cover, but are not limited to the following:
Pulsed systems: Radar, DME, TACAN, Transponder – Modes A/C/S, TCAS I & II. Non-pulsed systems: VOR, ILS (LOC/GS), MB, NDB (ADF), Radio Altitude Meter, Coms, ELT (COSPAS, SARSAT). Air Pressure: Pitot-Static-Testers and Calibrators, Barometric (Standards, Generators and Indicators), Airspeed meters, Altimeter & RVSM (According to FAA, EASA, SACAA). Other equipment: Testers (Emergency Locator Beacon, Windshield, Temperature and Intrinsic). Synchro-Server Systems, Fuel Quantity Test Sets, Engine RPM Synchronizers and Turbine Temperature Indicators.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS

We offer calibration on all Analysers (PDH/SHD, PCM Performance, Protocol), Data Rate Testers(E1, E5), Jitter Generators & Receivers, Balanced Impedance Test Sets.

MEDICAL

Calibration of all medical equipment is performed with the exact same criteria and high standard as required from our SANAS accreditation and complies to IEC/ISO-17025 and SANS-9001 standards. Some examples include:
Simulators (Hemodynamic, Patient, NIBP, Spo2, ECG/ Arrhythmia, Maternal/Fetal), Analysers (Defibrillator, Electrosurgical, Infusion, Trans-Q, Pulse Oximetry, Electrical Safety), Meters (Pressure-Abs/Diff, Temperature), Tachometers, Stopwatches, etc.

HIGH VOLTAGE

With the ability to measure up to 80kVrms AC & DC, and generate up to 40kVrms AC & DC. We are able to calibrate items such as Surge Generators, High Voltage Probes, Electrical Safety & EMC Receivers and Analyzers etc.

BROADCASTING AND COMMUNICATION

Broadcast equipment metrology and repair on equipment like Waveform/Vector Monitors, Multi format Video/Test Pattern Generators (PAL/NTSC), Audio Analyzers (Distortion, Sinad, Signal to Noise), Power Meters, Amplifiers, Filters, etc.

EMI EQUIPMENT

We offer metrology and repair on Line Impedance Stabilization Networks (LISN), EMI Field Receivers/Analysers etc.
